We are a VC backed Fintech startup on a mission to facilitate an inclusive, accessible & connected global financial system for Africans no matter where they are. We are simplifying how Africans send & receive money within & beyond Africa.
We are looking for a Finance Lead who will be responsible for the day to day aspects of Payday’s Accounting & Reporting Functions. The Finance Lead should be able to take hold of the day to day activities while managing account records, reconciliation and settlement of
accounts . And more specifically, someone who has previously worked in a fast paced accelerating Tech start up environment.

We are looking for a Finance Lead whose core responsibilities will include:

Timely recording of daily reconciliation, settlements, rates and account balances etc
Must be able to collaborate with other departments & Company’s leadership
Oversee and manage the Company's general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivables, general ledger, p&l, balance sheets and taxes;
Help with quarterly and year-end financial audit activities and the annual corporate financial controls audit;
Assess current accounting practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements
Develop the Company's financial and accounting policies, workflows and methods after consultations with the Chief Finance Officer or Company's leadership;
Prepare, review, and analyze the Company's financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness e.g. Revenue.
Audit accounts to ensure they comply with the Company's policy regulations and are applicable
Provide all accounting and financial reports and documents needed by the Company's external auditors and working with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end;
Evaluate the Company's financial transactions to ensure they comply with generally accepted accounting principles;
Calculate and file corporate tax returns for the Company to the relevant revenue authorities;

With these qualifications:

Master's / Honors degree in accounting, finance +ACCA
5+ years experience in Accounting & finance management.
Strong business acumen + ability to collaborate with others
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
Experience working in a fast-growing startup (preferred)
